The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) has appointed its deputy Director General Ireen Mlewa as its acting head of the authority.
The above follows after Mr. Elias Hausi is no longer the director general of the authority nor is he a member of staff there, as confirmed by a memorandum signed by PPDA principal human resource officer Elita Mwale. Part of the memorandum reads, “…the deputy director general will be acting director general until such a time when the position will be filled.”
On the other hand, a recent survey has exposed the PPDA of having unequal issuance of tenders, as the authority favors men. According to the survey by Open Government Contracting (OGC), less than 1% of women are awarded government contracts.
