The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) has appointed authorities to drive the board in action, as since the procurement Act was passed in 2017, government has not been abiding by the laws.
The law was amended (insertion), demanding that 60% of government’s procurement must be from black indigenous Malawians, aimed at promoting local businesses.
To properly enforce the law, the Directors of the body has appointed several board members, posts including the Chief Secretary, Secretary to the Treasury and the Solicitor General.
Statutory decisions such as enforcing penalties for breaches to the new Act will be successful enforced, now that the PPDA has armed itself with responsible authorities.
