The Lions Sight First Hospital at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital received a vitrector machine valued at K5.2 million, as the machine will provide surgical services to primary school learners in the Southern Region.
The donation was happily and generously presented by the Heart to Heart, an organisation that deals with blindness through Trachoma Elimination Project.
Lions Sight First Hospital head Gerald Msukwa thanked Heart to Heart for the machine, saying the one they had previously had broken down. Heart to Heart has been working wonders over the past year, eliminating trachoma in 170 schools and has screened 18 300 primary school learners in Machinga.
