The Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor, Dalitso Kabambe said that 2018 was faced with many economic obstacles, but 2019 seems to be a hopeful year.
Speaking to journalists, he notes that the consistent rains will produce a good harvest, compared to 2018’s food production that suffered dry spells and pest attacks, notably the armyworms.
He revealed that increased election spending which could lead to fiscal slippages, is the only major threat to the economy.
2018 was a year full of power outages, food production woes, fuel hikes and the like; the vote of confidence from RBM surely gives hope for entrepreneurs in Malawi.
