The Rotary Club in Lilongwe has invested K225m for provision of solar-powered electricity and computers to improve Information Communication Technology (ICT) lessons at Atsikana Paulendo Secondary School.
“We have installed solar power, donated laptops and desktops” said the club’s president George Mwale who added that the total investment costed $300,000. The club also foresaw a tree planting exercise for trees that would produce fruits for the students’ consumption.
The school’s operations director, Henry Mdyetseni remarked that the quality of education improved because of the facilities donated by the Rotary Club. Part of the funds were raised by the club itself, with support from its international partners.
