An agreement signed decades ago in Johannesburg has been brought into consideration after being disregarded since 1965; mining company employees have contracted tuberculosis due to their employers’ neglect towards health safety measures.

Compensation will be paid to affected employees or their relatives. Meanwhile the exact compensation amounthas not been revealed, but Reuters reports companies have already set aside R5bn while the High Court in Johannesburg is to approve of the development.
