The Ministry of Health in South Africa has announced that the National Institute for Communicable Diseases confirmed that a suspected case of COVID-19 has tested positive.
A public notice signed by the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, says that the tested patient is a 38 year-old male who visited Italy with his wife, as the couple was part of a 10 passenger flight back to the country on 1st March.
According to the notice, the patient has been isolated since 3rd March, as he visited the hospital after symptoms of fever, headache, malaise, sore throat and cough.
On the other hand, Emirates airline has suspended all flights to Johannesburg ORTAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (JHB) as of March 7 2020, until further notice.
