Africa Institute for Capacity Development (AICD) has organized a training course titled Total Quality Management in Airport Security. According to AICD-Malawi Admission Officer, Alexander Njikho, the course starts today in Lilongwe, aimed at providing guidance to aviation security personnel at a managerial level on quality management in airport security and associated pro-active initiatives that are in accordance with quality management standards and airport industry leading practices.
Njikho said that modern airports have acknowledged the importance of ensuring a positive customer experience. “Focusing on passenger satisfaction rankings and passenger spending, airports should review their strategies for the future to incorporate the concepts of TQM and customer experience.” said Njikho.
The development follows after African Flight Training Academy (AFTA) opened a centre in Malawi for training pilots interested in obtaining Private Pilot’s Licences. The academy opened in June, the first of its kind in Malawi, has been licensed as a flight training organisation for private pilots in Malawi by the Department of Civil Aviation in the country. Malawi was chosen as the right place for such an academy, as its weather conditions are suitable for flight lessons, according to AFTA Co-founder, Bryan Mundy. “The weather is very good compared to other countries. We also have a good number of airfields like in Satemwa, Majete, Salima, and Lilongwe, among other places.” said Bundy.
