Shayona Cement Corporation has announced phase three construction of the Kasungu Factory, which upon completion will produce 2 500 metric tonnes (MT) of cement per day from 900MT. The company’s managing director Jitendra Patel also revealed the company’s plans to expand to the Northern Region by constructing another factory in Mzuzu to produce about 100MT per day.
As the expansion has been hailed for means creation of more jobs, saving foreign exchange and inducing a drop in cement prices on the market, Patel outlined that the success of the projects will depend on the availability of stable electricity supply.
Formed and incorporated in 1994, Shayona Cement started manufacturing cement in 1997 bringing into the cement market two brands called AKSHAR and BUILDPLAST cement.
