Standard Bank Malawi has announced the return of the BeMore Race Run. The Mzuzu route has been announced, as the BeMore City run/walk will commence there on 27th April.
Malawi Defence Force (MDF) athlete Kefasi Kasten won last year’s race, held in Lilongwe. Kasten pocketed K1.5 million plus gold medal, followed by Kipkogey Shadrack, who won K900,000 and a silver medal. Chancy Master came third after finishing the journey in 1 hour, nine minutes and 44 seconds, winning K550, 000 plus and a bronze medal.
In the ladies category, Kenyan Too Mercy Gelimo won the race after 1 hour, 22 minutes and 33 seconds followed by Cecilia Mhango on second position after finishing the distance in 1 hour, 24 minutes 55 seconds whereas Tereza Master in 1 hour, 26, minutes and 36 seconds.
The race attracts a good turn out, notably Vice President Saulos Chilima who has been participating in the run for 2 consecutive years. This year’s prizes are K1.7 million, K1 million and K600,000 respectively for first, second and third place.
