A weekly stock market report by Alliance Stockbrokers has shown that stock prices have dipped, as Airtel, TNM, NICO and FMBCH registered losses, while only NBM gained 0.001%.
The report is reviewing last week (6/03/2020 – 13/03/2020) shows that the market continues to record loss in the market index closing at 28 902.32 points. Figures in the report show that Price losses in AIRTEL (-0.34%), TNM (-0.04%) and NICO (-0.02%) led to a 0.05% loss in the DSI. FMBCH share price continues to plummet amidst the company’s performance closing at MK46.50 from MK47.00 recorded in the previous week which led to a -0.93% drop in the FSI.
Last week, Stockbrokers Malawi Limited Chief Executive Officer, Noel Kadzakumanja, said the Covid-19 does pose a threat to the local bourse’s performance. Unfortunately, the Malawi Stock Exchange has already started of the year on a tough situation, registering a decline in traded volumes at 34 million this month, compared to 212 million during the same period last year representing an 83.9% drop.
