According to Sunbird Tourism plc Chief Executive Officer Yusuf Olela, there are plans to open a new hotel, Sunbird Waterfront, in Salima to meet rising demand for accommodation and tourism facilities.
The hotel, with a capacity of 100 rooms, will open in September this year with 42 rooms. Olela revealed that the new hotel is situated next to Sunbird Livingstonia Beach, is part of the firm’s expansion plan to increase capacity in places where there is a lot of demand.
The project was announced not long after the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, gave Sunbird Nkopola and City hotel Sunbird Lilongwe, a 3-Star rating. Sunbird Hotels and Resorts keep pushing forward, raising the bar in the tourism sector, as Mount Soche now hosts the largest International Conference Centre in the southern region, holding a capacity of 600-800.
