During a tree planting exercise around Zomba Mountain, Sunbird Ku Chawe General Manager, Nedson Chikuta announced that Sunbird Tourism Limited has unveiled plans to plant over 14,000 tree seedlings on 10 hectares within Zomba Forest.
According to Chikuta, the initiative is part of the Sunbird Ku Chawe’s contribution towards environmental conservation, while noting that the development will also boost tourism. “As a company in the tourism industry, we believe that a good environment is base for tourists’ attraction. This is why we thought it wise to 14,000 trees this year,” Chikuta said.
He said the initiative will also help the survival of Mulunguzi Dam which supplies water to communities in the southern region including. Present during the tree planting exercise was Member of Parliament for the area, Grace Kwelepeta, who was grateful for the initiative.
