National Bank of Malawi has announced the temporary closure of the Chichiri Service Centre, following an outbreak of coronavirus as some of the branch’s members of staff tested positive.
A notice by management has outlined that the closure will last two weeks, as the premises will undergo disinfection. While the bank is closed, the rest of the staff will be on self quarantine and a clearance test will be implemented upon the reopening of the branch. Meanwhile, management has urged customers to use nearby branches at Shoprite or Top Mandala Service center.
As of 11;35am today, Malawi has registered 2364 confirmed cases, 557 recoveries and 33 deaths. Last week, a statement by the secretary of government mandated the use of face masks in all of its institutions. The secretary has signed that unless clients wear a face mask, they will not be served. “Please take note that clients must ensure that the face mask covers the nose and mouth completely and it should not be lowered when speaking, coughing or sneezing” says part of the statement.
