The ICT Fair has returned, dated for the 22nd and 23rd August this year. Themed ‘ICT as a catalyst for economic growth’ the 2-day expo will happen at the Bingu International Conference centre (BICC).
Having more than 200 participants, the exciting expo offers more than 10 technology thematic areas, 20 innovative presentations and more than 100 exhibitions.
The expo will focus on two sectors, namely finance and technology. As for finance, topics to be discussed will be cloud technology, financial technology, Insurance, E-Health, Data Protection and Privacy, among may other important subjects. For the technology sector, subjects to be covered will be Finance, Insurance, Health, Agriculture, Education, Urbanization.
Meanwhile, Malawi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) noted that in 2018, technology use by businesses has dropped by 58.62%. The 2018 decline follows a 2017 drop which registered 78.18%; an incident that is being attributed to power outages that wastes the businesses bundle subscriptions. The study also reports a slight decline in internet usage, which may be attributed to high cost of communication, as it is noted that email was common in 2018.
