During a farewell event for the former chief executive officer of FDH Financial Holdings Limited, Thom Mpinganjira, the business mogul announced plans of opening the Thomson and Barbara Foundation aimed at philanthropy and promoting innovative ideas among the youth by providing start-up capital.
According to Mpinganjira, the foundation will start with about K300 million aimed at providing funds for start-ups. Meanwhile, as he retires, he has celebrated the milestones that the leading subsidiary, FDH Bank, has achieved. “At the point of entry, we were bank number 12 but now we are bank number three in terms of market share” he said.
Following the retirement, FDH Financial Holdings Limited appointed William Mpinganjira as the new Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 September 2020 and George Chitera as the Deputy Managing Director of FDH Bank plc. “We congratulate Mr. William Mpinganjira and Mr. George Chitera on their well-deserved appointments and wish them well as they take up their new and challenging roles in FDH Group,” said part of a statement announcing the handover, 2 weeks ago.
