As the tree planting season was announced in December by His Excellency Professor Peter Mutharika, various firms are in tree planting exercise and Malawi’s leading service provider TNM is no exception.
Partnering with United Purpose (UP), TNM is on a forest management program that is worth K8.4m, planting 15,000 tree seedlings on Masadu Hill.
TNM acting Chief Executive Officer Eric Valentine linked the initiative to the company’s corporate social responsibility, while UP Country Manager Heather Campbell remarked that the initiative was means to curb soil erosion.
TNM and UP are undertaking the exercise with a difference; not only are the they planting trees, they are managing them for sustainability.
