TNM ROLLS OUT KIDS CODING WORKSHOPS – Malawi News Online
Last Saturday, TNM partnered with CitySide Media and Huawei Technologies to conduct the inaugural coding workshop at the Polytechnic’s UNICEF Hub in Blantyre. The initiative involves young people between 10 and 16 years, to promote coding in Malawi and encourage people to start learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M) at an early age.
Global trends show a growing reliance by society on technology, to the extent that people with technology related skills have more options in life. As the jobs of the next decade will be heavily determined by technology innovation, the running of coding workshops corresponds with TNM’s vision of being a trusted and reliable telco operator that drives innovation and imparts knowledge to nourish ICT expertise.
One of the participating kids, said the workshop has opened new horizons for ICT related initiatives. “Malawi as a country is facing many challenges that can be solved by new technology. The coding camp has helped us to learn and discuss how we can apply technology to manage some of the challenges we face in our lives,” she said.
