Tobacco stakeholders are amidst talks on when to open 2019’s tobacco market season.
The Tobacco Control Commission CEO Mr Kaisi Sadala has confirmed finalisations for the second tobacco yield assessment, of which the results will be discussed in a meeting on the 20th of March.
The recent TCC report shows that Malawi has surpassed the tobacco demand by 35%, while being positive that farmers have produced good leaf.
Meanwhile Tobacco buyers and farmers organisations have been in negotiations about increasing the demand, to cater for the excess 35% produced by farmers.
