In order to combat anti competitive and unfair trading practices that need to be addressed for the good of thetobacco farmers, the Tobacco Control Commission signed an agreement to work with The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CfTC).
CfTC executive director Charlotte Wezie Malonda expressed the need to witness fruits of uncompromised competition at the auction floors and fair contractual terms and pricing of tobacco leaf under integrated production system (IPS), among other things.
As tobacco prices are yet to be announced, the signed partnership is a much need development that will avoid hard working farmers from being ripped off.
