The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has confirmed that a team of United Kingdom investors will visit Malawi to explore opportunities in the Mulanje Cable Car project.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Salim Bagus, outlined that They will also look at Nankumba Tourism Hub project in Mangochi as well as Liwonde Dry Port project.
Prior to the news, President Peter Mutharika casted his vision to bring cable cars to Mulanje Mountain. I want to bring cable cars on Mulanje Mountain. It will bring new hotels and more businesses in this part of the country,” said Mutharika when he opened the Zomba-Jali Phalombe Chitakale road.
On the other hand, following approval from the Cabinet, the National Tourism Policy (NTP) will launch in December, as it has been hailed as a means for enhancing the tourism sector. The development follows an announcement by the Director of Tourism, Isaaac Katopola, who said that a new marketing strategy is in the making to put in place mechanisms that will increase the number of locals visiting tourism facilities in the country.
