The UNIMA Students Union (UMSU) has refused to hold a virtual graduation ceremony for 2019 graduands, suggesting that the University of Malawi (UNIMA) should organize a ceremony that adheres to Covid-19 safety measures.
Speaking to Zodiak Broadcasting Station, the union’s President, Scalioth Chithokonya suggested that the program can be set to allow a specific number of people per time to avoid congestion. “..also the use of different venues such as multipurpose halls and stadiums to help dividing the congregation and minimize congestion,” he said
Earlier in May this year, Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) outlined that listed companies could host their Annual General Meetings (AGMs) virtually, as means to minimize social gatherings, thereby avoiding the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, stakeholders in various sectors have also been implementing virtual interfaces to hold meetings.
