VISION 2063 READY TO LAUNCH NEXT JULY – Malawi News Online
Updating stakeholders on the implementation of Vision 2063, the National Planning Commission (NPC) said that vision 2020 is still under review, before implementing the next successor vision.
During the National Research Symposium organised by NPC and Economics Association of Malawi (Ecama) executive director Maleka Thula said it was important for various experts to deliberate on a myriad of issues surrounding development, which he said will help to enrich the formulation of the successor plan to Vision 2020.
Launched in 1998, Vision 2020 was developed to provide a guide towards sustainable national development in Malawi. The document was implemented with support from medium-term strategies, namely the Malawi Poverty Reduction Strategy (MPRS; 2000-2005), the Malawi Growth and Development Strategies (MGDS I, 2005-2011; MGDS II, 2012-2016 and MGDS III, 2017-2022).
According to NPC, the development of the Vision 2020 successor document will cost about K904 million. The successor blueprint, National Transformation 2063, is currently being developed and is scheduled to be launched in July 2020.
