A group of women entrepreneurs called ‘Empower’ have launched a magazine called PAWER (Platform for Advocacy of Women’s Economic Rights), to continue on its path to deliver a product that will highlight a number of issues including engaging business women across Malawi.
The magazine’s co-founder, Prisca Chipao said the magazine is aimed at inspiring the next generation of successful youth by creating opportunities for young women to tell their authentic stories distinctively. Following the goal, the first n the first edition has touched on engaging business women across Malawi and using their experiences to inform advocacy [and policy recommendations] for a gender responsive enabling economic environment. “The magazine has also been used as a marketing tool for women-led businesses,” said Chipao.
Last year in October, during a three day skills development training for twenty women entrepreneurs, it was revealed that lack of information is the utmost reason why women entrepreneurs have poor business, financial management and marketing skills that bring down their businesses. The magazine therefore arrives amidst the country’s interest to empower women in entrepreneurship
