The Project Innovation Centre (PIC) has signed an agreement with Women Lawyers Association (WLA) a development that will see female entrepreneurs accessing legal services from WLA members for free and get legal representation at a discount, among other things.
During the signing ceremony, Pic Chief Executive Officer Kondwani Ngwira attributed the development to the firm’s findings that there is a knowledge gap on legal-related matters. On the other hand, 80% of members of Pic are women. The firm is an entrepreneurial organisation aimed at helping Malawians with business opportunities. “Women Lawyers Association is coming to bridge that gap and ensure that entrepreneurs understand the right type of registration and all legal requirements,” Ngwira said.
Portraying excitement in the partnership, the Women Lawyers Association Legal Aid Coordinator for Blantyre Chapter, Celeste Chibwana, said that WLA stepped in, considering that the aspect of protecting and promoting the rights of women go beyond gender based violence.
