World Vision Malawi National Director, Hazel Nyathi has expressed admiration for girls in Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi, who are involved in self empowerment initiatives.

Nyathi acknowledged the girls, commending them for making independent means of combating poverty in an area that is highly indoctrinated with issues of child marriage.

The girls, aged 10-24, sell fritters, thobwa, beans, tomatoes and they are farming. Their initiative is under Adolescent Girls and Young Women Project being financed by Global Fund through Action Aid in traditional authorities Chimwala, Nankumba, Mponda, Chowe and Chilipa.
