Farmers Organisation Limited has started training youths in some parts of the country on repairing and maintenance of spray equipment. Farmers Organisation Limited Supervisor responsible for spray repairs and maintenance, Boniface Nyirongo, said the training would also expose youths to potential markets.
The development has been hailed as a means of dealing with unemployment in Malawi, as charts fromtradingeconomics.com show that Malawi’s unemployment rate as remained constant for the past several years. The website reads, “Unemployment Rate in Malawi remained unchanged at 5.90 percent in 2017 from 5.90 percent in 2016. Unemployment Rate in Malawi averaged 7.17 percent from 1991 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 7.80 percent in 2003 and a record low of 5.90 percent in 2014.”
