During the Entrepreneurship and Financial Seminar in Blantyre, budding entrepreneurs were advised to take an interest in financial matters and learn the know-how of money management.
Project Innovation Centre (PIC), a local innovation firm, whose CEP Kondwani Chirwa gave the advice, said financial literacy is key in every business venture, observing that it helps entrepreneurs easily and ably plan, save and invest.
Earlier this year, Bankers Association of Malawi (BAM), outlined its plans to visit secondary schools to raise awareness on financial literacy. BAM Chief Executive Officer Violette Santhe revealed that the lessons will be meant to educate the learners on money-related matters.
Fast forward, Old Mutual Malawi plc financial literacy specialist Bernard Chiluzi, stressed on the importance of financial literacy, saying it is essential for the youth to be knowledgeable. “We have a program which targets individuals at different levels. The aim is to break the intergenerational poverty circle that most people are going through,” he said.
